The microphone body is made of aluminum = very well. Its cylinder when unscrewed unveils the AA battery compartment. I inserted 1.2V NiMH and no issue (the same for the receiver). The microphones does not need a power supply if plugged in via the cable. The receiver is not so well built but who cares for the price and if it works and it does. The sound is correct: no strange noises unless there is some FM jamer, some electromagnetic interference. The FM channel robustness is against EMI is rather poor. One might ask about its reliability, durability, longevity ... no answer for the moment. But surely one may go and buy a premium brand (digital) microphone.. and pay 20xmore. My verdict: Recommended
